Technical expertise: Use of GC/MS, and to a lesser extent, LC/MS/MS and IRMS, to quantitate fatty acid metabolism in vivo in mice, primates and humans.  Use of MIDA to quantitate de novo fatty acid synthesis;  use of GC to quantitate fatty acid composition.

Organs of interest: Liver, intestine, adipose and muscle.

Research focus: Adipose fatty acid and glycerol release, liver-TG synthesis and VLDL secretion, peripheral tissue fatty acid uptake, and intracellular lipid storage and oxidation.
